Arts In Motion Academy takes great pride in the education and service provided to our dedicated students and their family’s. Each of our faculty members have extensive credentials, professional experience, and knowledge within their genre of the dance world. Here, at AIM Academy we heavily promote continual education and professional performance opportunities for our staff. Our instructors focus heavily on proper execution/technique, commitment to creativity, appropriate performance quality, and constantly challenging their own as well as our student’s limits. Corrections, repetition, safety, positive reinforcement and style adaption is our norm in every class. Kim and Amy are incredibly blessed to have such a talented, caring, beautiful, and professional group of instructors. Outside of being fantastic dancers, instructors, choreographers, and performers, our teachers are simply incredible people and wonderful friends.
Kimberly Tam – Owner/Director Intermediate/Advanced Ballet, Intermediate/Advanced Lyrical, Intermediate/Advanced Jazz, Intermediate/Advanced Pointe
Kimberly Tam, born in New York City, began her dance training at The American School for the Performing Arts, affiliate to Steps on Broadway, The Mason Gross School of the Arts, and The State University of New York. She started her performance experience as the captain of the Fast Trax Dance Company, originally know as Ballet La’ Jennesse. Kim later earned the title of Founder/Artistic Director for the Performance Company, American Dance Theatre, NJ. Simultaneously, she earned her bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Media and a minor in Communication Information Studies and graduated, cum laude from Rutgers University. Kimberly continued dancing, instructing, and performing throughout the country as well as Europe. She performed with a contemporary Graham Company under the direction of Lynn Barr (Tour 510, Prague, Czech Republic) and with the European Phil Harmonic as the opening piece for the 10th Annual Music Festival “Nights of Music,” (featured in Dance Teacher Magazine) alongside REQUIEM FUR BONHOEFFER, Germany’s Ricardo Viviani (Bohemia). Ms. Tam, a former assistant editor of Dance Magazine New York, spent five years as a Ballet and Contemporary Jazz choreographer/instructor for New Jersey’s prestigious, American Repertory Ballet’s, Princeton Ballet School. There, she was involved with “Dance Power” a collaborative educational project sponsored by ARB and the New Brunswick Board of Education, with the late Gregory Hines as its honorary national Chair. During this time she was the assistant choreographer and instructor for the Billboard Award winning, MTV’s “Choreographer of the Year” recipient and Broadway choreographer, Jamale Graves. Other credits include extensive training with her mentor, ARB and Omaha Ballet’s Leigh-Ann Roth, Martha Graham’s, Wendy Stein and New York City Ballet’s, Annie Ditmars. For several years Kim was the executive Chair on the Board of directors for MTV’s America Best Dance Crew contestant, FR3SH Dance Troupe. Currently, she is the founder/owner of UFP Dance LLC., one of the most elite hip-hop company’s on the east coast. Kimberly is extremely excited to continue her professional dance career alongside Amy Boyle as owners of “Arts In Motion Academy.”
Amy Boyle – Owner/Director Preschool Ballet, Basics Ballet/Tap, Level I/II/III, Tap, Novice Teen Levels
Amy Boyle, born in Brooklyn, New York began her dance training at the age of three under the instruction of Dr. Dolly Ellen. After eight years of studying with Dr. Ellen, she continued performing and training at Horizons In Dance, a popular and well respected dance education center known throughout the New York area. Here, Amy was chosen to be an instructor’s assistant and quickly realized her love and talent for educating young aspiring dancers. As well as teaching and studying, she was also chosen to be a part of Horizon’s Award Winning Competition Team along side, “So You Think You Can Dance?” choreographer Tice Diorio. This helped create the foundation for Amy’s twenty years of teaching excellence and success. With great passion and knowledge she has inspired hundreds of young students as an instructor, choreographer, friend, and mentor. During this time, Amy also spent three years training and fitting dancers with proper attire and footwear at one of Brooklyn’s most popular dance retailers. Utilizing her extensive teaching experience, Amy stresses proper technique while promoting a fun and creative atmosphere where children can receive a complete dance education. Amy is extremely excited to continue her dance career alongside Kimberly Tam as owners of “Arts In Motion Academy.”
Kathleen Bellone – Advanced Ballet, Advanced Pointe, AIM Plus Technique
Is a native of central New Jersey. Her formal training began in high school at the Neubert Ballet Institute in New York’s Carnegie Hall. She quickly got a taste of classical ballet performance when she was invited to perform with the Neubert Children’s Ballet Company. By senior year in high school she was carrying lead roles such as Swanhilda, in Christine Neubert’s version of Coppelia, as well as many other original ballets created by Ms. Christine Neubert and various other artists via her well known choreographic workshops. She furthered her studies with some of the best known ballet teachers in New York including Finis Jhung (Broadway Dance Center), Maggie Black, Tina Burnell (David Howard Studios) and Maestro Hector Zaraspe of the Julliard School. She performed numerous roles in The Nutcracker with the Eglevsky Ballet and made appearances in American Ballet Theatre’s: Sleeping Beauty before becoming one of the lead dancers in the contemporary ballet company Feld Ballets/NY. While with the company they toured throughout the U.S., Canada and Puerto Rico. Kathleen danced over 30 different balletic leads while with Elliot Feld and is fortunate enough to have danced with Mikhail Baryshnikov on a guest appearance. Kathleen also took a season working jointly with the late Mr. Gregory Hines, to teach for Eliot Feld’s school in NY, The New School, a non-profit ballet school developed for the soul-purpose of training New York’s under-privileged children, tuition free. Kathleen taught master classes throughout the U.S. while on tour with the company. After moving back to NJ, she began teaching for New Jersey’s Princeton Ballet School. She contributed choreography to the PBS year–end, full length ballets: Sleeping Beauty, Alice in Wonderland, Coppelia and Cinderella. While working at PBS, she appeared in American Repertory Ballet’s: A Mid Summer Nights Dream. She was also invited to perform with the New Jersey Opera Festival in Princeton, NJ appearing in the operas: Carmen and Orfeo ed Euridice. During her career she was chosen to pose for the world renowned artist and painter Douglas Hoffman whose NY gallery openings have sold their works throughout the world. Kathleen is best known for her poses in The Grande Jete and Arabesque. Kathleen is very excited to be a part of the AIM faculty and to share her knowledge and experience with her students.
Dulce Drapkin – Acrobatics
Ms. Drapkin comes to us from the Elite Monmouth Gymnastic Academy where she is a coach, instructor and USAG member. With over 25 years of instructing experience she coached the developmental team, TOPS Program, level 4, 5, and 6. Dulce was a USAG coach at Rebound Gymnastics Academy for over 9 years. She is Safety, CPR and Aid certified. Through hard work, dedication and diligence Dulce has coached her 1st gymnast to multiple State Championships and several students on to being National Team Members! She was also a competitive dance team coach for the Westminster Academy of Dance. Dulce is looking forward to sharing her expertise with the students here at AIM Academy with our NEW Acrobatics In Motion program.
Kruti Shah – Intermediate/Advanced Tap, Ballet, Jazz and Traditional/Bollywood
Ms. Shah has traveled across the world and back, touring around the globe to happily find a home with Arts In Motion Academy. As one of Kim’s most beloved protégés, Kruti has also heavily trained with principal dancer of the Russian National Ballet Company and Ballet Mistress of The New Jersey Ballet, Ms. Marina Bodganova. After completing the highly competitive New Jersey State Governors School dance program and receiving the programs only New Jersey Honored Dance Excellence Award, Kruti graduated from Rutgers University. She enter her college career as a Medical Student but her love for dance soon grew larger then her love for medicine. Kruti earned the title of artistic director of AATMA, a very well known traditional and Bollywood dance company. In 2011 she was a top Ten finalist out of thousands of dancers across the world, representing the United States on Star Plus’ hit reality show Just Dance. Like “So You Think You Can Dance”, Kruti’s pointe work, hip hop ability, tap technique, contemporary comprehension, and even aerial silk work was challenged on every episode and performed masterfully. Most recently she has toured around the world, across the US, China, South Africa, Canada, and Bahrein as Director and principal performer with Mystic India. She is thrilled to be back under the same roof as Kim and looking forward to sharing her talent, knowledge and love for dance with the Arts In Motion Family.
Bo Belza – UFP/UFPx Artistic Director, Novice, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced Hip Hop
Born in Jersey City, New Jersey, Bo Belza began his dance career in high school. His passion for hip hop grew after auditioning and being excepted onto, MTV’s Season 3 “America’s Best Dance Crew” contestant’s, FR3SH Dance Company. Here he rigorously trained and studied with well respected hip hop choreographers and earned the opportunity to perform and study across the United States and Canada. He performed and competed in some of the most well respected competitions and exhibitions such as Carnival, The East Coast Dance Competition, Funkanomentry’s Sockhop, and The World of Dance. Bo continued his growth as a dancer and choreographer after earning the position of Artistic Director for Fr3sh Juniors, the company’s training team. To bring the Hip Hop community closer together, Bo excepted a New Jersey staff position for the internationally recognized Hip Hop association, “Boogiezone.” Mr. Belza continued to instruct, perform, and train when he was chosen to direct one of the East Coast’s leading hip hop teams, UFP Dance LLC; Arts In Motion Academy’s own professional Hip Hop Company. With Bo as one of the company’s artistic directors, UFP has swept the east coast winning 1st place in some of the most nationally recognized hip hop competitions; “Prelude East Coast,” “Fusion,” “Pride,” “Elements” etc. His passion for dance has led him to direct a new project, “Ladies with Guns” as he hopes to become a role model for continuing dance education in the East Coast Hip Hop Dance community. At the same time, he is completing his Bachelors Degree in Graphic Design with Kean University. Bo will be joining Arts In Motion for another season, where he looks forward to sharing his knowledge, musicality, and choreography with his beautiful students.
Alanna Bradley – Preschool Ballet, Basics, Level I/II/III, Beginner Lyrical
Alanna discovered her passion for dance at a young age, through her adolescent years she trained in different dance facilities and workshops. In the summer of 2005 she earned the position of Director’s Assistant for her city’s Summer Theater Workshop. There she was given her first opportunity to choreograph for and instruct young students. As one of the original pioneers of Arts In Motion Academy, Ms. Bradley was accepted as an AIM Performance Company Performer, soloist, and instructor’s assistant throughout her high school career. It was here where she received her most professional dance education, and trained under Arts In Motion Academy’s Kimberly Tam (American Repertory Ballet), Kathleen Bellone (Elliot Feld), and Leslie Hubilla (Lyons Ballet, Sidra Bell). Simultaneously, she danced in musical theater performances and maintained the title of “Dance Captain” for her High Schools dance team. After graduating with honors in 2009, Ms. Bradley completed her Associates Degree in Science with a Full State Scholarship as a honorary “New Jersey STARS Student.” Currently she is completing her Bachelors Degree in Exercise Science with a focus in Dance Therapy with Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey and is the President-elect of the Exercise Science Division. Ms Bradley was chosen as an auditioned company member of New York City’s Professional modern dance company, Vital Dance. Now furthering her path towards Dance Physical Therapy, she was accepted into the prestigious internship position with, West Side Dance Physical Therapy where she learns the fundamentals of preventing and treating dance related injuries. Alanna has the privilege of working with the managing Dance Therapist for the New York City’s, School of American Ballet and treating professional Ballet Dancers from across the country. Ms. Bradley is endlessly grateful and ecstatic to be instructing alongside her friends and mentors at Arts In Motion Dance Academy.
Mariam Giorgadze – Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Lyrical
Born in Tbillsi, Georgia near the southeastern edge of Europe, Mariam realized her love for dance at a very young age. Most recently, Ms. Giorgadze completed the advanced section of Russia’s Bolshoi Ballet’s Summer Intensive Program at The Julliard School. Featuring performances in NYC’s famous Lincoln Center and The Metropolitan Opera House alongside other hand chosen dancers from across the world. She started training with Arts In Motion in 2010 and in the same year out of hundreds of very stunning and gifted dancers throughout the country, Ms. Giorgadze was one of four young women chosen to participate in the, NYC Summer Radio City Rockette Experience. MSG Varsity Television aired a Special on her audition process, dance training life, and summer in the Big Apple. Mariam’s love, drive, and passion for learning and educating others earned her the 2011 Arts In Motion, Performance Co, AIM Excellence Scholarship award. Simultaneously, she studied acting under the esteemed writer, producer, actor Mr. Sam Borowski and has recently starred as “Ellie” in the Independent Short Film, “Cocktails” directed by Edward Blum. The film was featured at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival, Golden Door Film Festival, and Long Island Film Festival. Mariam continues to strive for performance brilliance and has earned the title of the AIM Performance Co. Dance Captain for the 2012/2013 season. She is honored to join the tremendously talented and well versed faculty of Arts In Motion Academy and is thankful for the opportunity to work with such driven and respectful students.
Theresa Rigo – Pre School Ballet, Basics Tap/Jazz, Ballet/Tap/Jazz 1, Body Sculpting, Adult Strength Training & Cardio Jazz
Theresa began her love for the performing arts at the age of eight with a very well known Brooklyn NY dance establishment, Horizons In Dance. During her many years of training she had the opportunity to train and perform with the studios competition team. After graduating from Brooklyn College, Theresa moved across the country to live in San Diego, working in the design department for the sports apparel company “Jet Pilot.” Realizing her love for the east coast and wanting to share her passion for healthy living and appropriate exercise therapy, she moved to New Jersey to share her knowledge and devotion to helping others live fit and positively. While back in the garden state, Theresa became Rutgers certified for youth athletics, where she coached and trained young athletes for over ten years. She qualified privately under a board certified personal trainer and further improved her knowledge of the body and correct exercise for five years, after which she worked with The Curves fitness Center for Woman as a Body Sculpting Specialist and Weight Loss Consultant. A few short years ago, Theresa received her Zumba instruction certification. She continues to instruct Adult Zumba and Body Sculpting at Arts In Motion Academy where she also shares her knowledge and strength trains the students in the AIM Performance Co. as well as instructs her personal adult weekly classes. Her genuine love for helping others and enthusiasm in the classroom is what drives Theresa. She feels blessed to work with such wonderful youth/adult students and is excited to continue her path with Arts In Motion Academy.
Jessica Drapkin – Acrobatics
Jessie began her dance and gymnastics training at the age of four. During her pre-teen years she decided to seriously focus on gymnastics and competed with Rebound Gymnastics Academy for seven years in the Jersey Optional Gymnastics Association. During this time Jessie infused her love of dance with her gymnastics knowledge and choreographed competition floor routines for JOGA gymnasts Academy. For many years she has trained as a gymnastics coach together with her incredibly talented and renowned gymnastics coach/mother, Dulce Drapkin. Simultaneously she is completing her BA in Biological Sciences and Masters in K-12 Biological Education at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. Jessie is so excited and honored for the opportunity to join the AIM family and looks forward to sharing her energy and knowledge with her students.
Jennifer DeBiase – Office Manager and Stage Manager
Graduating from St. John’s University, with a major in Sports Management and a double minor in Business and Law, Jennifer went on to work for United Sports Management, a company who owned and operated minor league sports teams. There she was Director of Business Affairs in which she was responsible for leading the business managers of each individual team. After several years there, her and her husband, Michael, decided to start a family and in 2001, they welcomed their first daughter on Christmas Day! Wanting to stay home with their child, Jennifer decided to start her own company to utilize her creativity and started elleon designs, llc. Four years later they had their second child and their eldest started dance. She began with Arts in Motion at its inception and is currently the office and stage manager. With the love of dance her daughters display and her belief in the philosophy of the Studio, Jennifer is looking forward to many more years to come at Arts in Motion.
